AHA was engaged to evaluate the Development Grants program, a component of the overall AHPMC program. The evaluation involved examining the appropriateness, effectiveness and efficiency of the program in meeting its aims and objectives.

Development Grants include over 100 separate projects, funded under three different types of grants, each with a different focus. The three types of grants are:
•Service Development Grants
•Seeding Grants
•Information Management/Information Technology (IM/IT) and Infrastructure Grants.

The different types of grants recognises that:
•Service planning and development takes time
•Types of support needs vary across settings
•A staged approach is required across the various parts of Australia.
