1300 MEDICINE (1300 633 424) is a free service funded by the Australian Government under which AHA’s team of registered pharmacists are available by telephone to answer consumer questions about medicines.

AHA’s pharmacists answer more than 10,000 calls from consumers each year, asking questions about medicines. We can also help consumers report adverse reactions to medicines and vaccines by submitting reports to the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). The 1300 MEDICINE service can be used to answer questions about a range of topics, including:

  • medicine side effects and interactions
  • best ways to take medicines
  • safe medicine use in pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • storage of medicines
  • medicines for adults and children.

AHA was awarded the contract to operate the service through a competitive tender process that was undertaken following the closure of NPS MedicineWise, the previous service provider. Further details about the service are available at our 1300 MEDICINE website.

1300 Medicine handles more than 10,000 telephone calls from Australian consumers each year.
